CurrentCast - Revolutionary and Evolutionary Developments from the 2011 Cable Show

Current Analysis consumer services and video infrastructure analysts were in Chicago for the 2011 NCTA Cable Show (June 14-16, 2011). The event was slightly less glitzy than in the past, with more booths converted to executive suites. Yet there was sufficient celebrity and star power presence at the show to drive traffic between the general sessions and exhibitor booths, where developments in both consumer services and video infrastructure were unveiled and displayed.

These include revolutionary services such as Comcast’s partnership with Skype to deliver video conferencing to Xfinity-connected TV sets, and more evolutionary developments to facilitate cable operator adoption of TV Everywhere services with hosted/cloud-based infrastructure offerings and managed services capabilities for the seamless delivery of content to Internet-connected devices both in the home as well as on the go.Much of this builds on recent events and our analytic reports, including:
