Event Summary

March 30, 2009 - NSN inaugurated a new Global Network Solutions Center (GNSC). The latest GNSC, located in Noida, Delhi NCR, is part of the company’s strategic response to the growing trend for operators to outsource network management and maintenance as a way to increase efficiency. The new GNSC, colocated in a new dedicated services facility, reinforces India as the company’s global services hub.

Analytical Summary

• Current Perspective: Positive on Nokia Siemens Networks’ (NSN) launch of its newest Global Network Solutions Center (GNSC) in India, because the investment is demand driven and because it represents follow through on the company’s strategic plans. NSN has concentrated significant resources in India, including another GNSC in Chennai, because of the region’s growth rate and cost profile, and because it brings it closer to its large number of customers in the greater Asia-Pacific region.

• Vendor Importance: High to NSN, because it has committed strategically to both the managed services market, which the new GNSC supports, and to its presence in India, which plays a key role in its corporate transformation strategy based on globalization. In 2007, NSN committed to a three-year, USD 100 million, strategic investment in the country.

• Market Impact: Low to moderate on the managed services segment of the telecom infrastructure services market, because NSN’s plans to build another GNSC in India were known, as was its strategy to centralize its managed network operations services activities.
