CeBIT 2010

DT Offers Fresh Approach to Converged Fixed, Mobile and IT

| Mar 8, 2010 | Business Telecom Services - Europe
| Analyst: Dustin Kehoe

Event Summary

March 5, 2010 -- DT presented its new DeutschlandLAN offer at CeBIT 2010. The product is an integrated fixed, mobile and IT communications solution geared for companies with as few as five employees. A standardized user interface acts as a communication centre to integrate all communication channels such as telephony, e-mail, SMS and instant messaging. The portfolio includes services ranging from virtual PBX systems and Microsoft Hosted Exchange to an Internet platform for collaboration.

Quick Take

Analytical Summary

• Current Perspective: Positive on Deutsche Telekom for launching its DeutschlandLAN offer, because it can now offer its first integrated fixed, wireless and IT communications and collaboration solution (including Hosted Exchange) to mid-market accounts. The offer is hosted from within DT’s network, and it gives customers the option to move toward an OpEx-based pricing model.

• Vendor Importance: High to DT, because the company needed to leverage its fixed and wireless assets and combine its IT capabilities in order to deliver customers a compelling product. As DT continues to integrate its fixed and wireless operations, the company can now showcase more integrated offerings. This will be important for helping it regain market share in the SME space.

• Market Impact: High on the German enterprise telephony, UCC and IP telephony markets, because this offer does raise the stakes and it challenges archrivals Vodafone and Telefonica O2 Germany, for example, to move beyond the integration of fixed and wireless services and address IT communications and collaboration. There are solutions under development, but nothing as complete as the DeutschlandLAN offer was unveiled at CeBIT 2010.
