T-Systems Counters Weakness on UCC with new SEN Global Partnership

| Apr 23, 2010 | Voice and Unified Communications Services
| Analyst: Dustin Kehoe

Event Summary

April 22, 2010 – T-Systems and Siemens Enterprise Communications GmbH & Co. KG (SEN) have agreed to a global agreement to provide key international customers greater cost efficiency with standardized voice and UCC services, better capabilities, quicker technology rollout and worldwide service. T-Systems will focus on the core network and data center infrastructure while SEN delivers more around UC consulting, integration and transformation.

Quick Take

Analytical Summary

• Current Perspective: Positive on the partnership between T-Systems and Siemens Enterprise Communications (SEN) because T-Systems will be able to offer more capabilities around unified communications and collaboration (UC&C) to support its high-end customers and may also benefit from broader trans-regional capabilities in the US, UK and Latin America.

• Vendor Importance: High to T-Systems, because the company needed more specialization and expertise around IP telephony and unified communications services to complement its core network and data center capabilities while SEN needed a partner with extensive customer contacts and market clout.

• Market Impact: High on voice and UC&C market competitors, particularly in Germany, because while the deal is by no means exclusive, there are some unique synergies here. T-Systems offers a strong customer base (up to 400 MNCs) in Germany, which is a core market for SEN. While SEN in turn, delivers high-end support and integration around UCC. The large transformation deal with BP gives this partnership credibility.
